Hey! I’m Pierre, a Guam native now living in Los Angeles. For nearly half a decade, I’ve been taking full advantage of remote work as I fulfill my dream of traveling around the world.

I have a passion (read: addiction) for travel and I just so happen to have a knack for making it work with my remote job. No, this is not a cliche story of rags to riches- I’m just a regular guy working in sales and making a humble living from my laptop. It’s not always easy working remotely as I travel, but it’s always worth it.

In the last five years, I’ve traveled to 5 countries and more than 25 cities. Some of my favorite destinations (so far) are: 

I even did a two-month road trip from Los Angeles all the way to Asheville, North Carolina, and back in 2022! I absolutely love to travel, and I have no plans of stopping any time soon.

I started this blog as a way to document my travels, share my experiences, and hopefully inspire others to never give up on their travel dreams (like you). I truly believe that with the right discipline, a strong wifi connection, and a strong cup of craft coffee, anyone and virtually everyone can work from their laptop or phone while traveling the world. 

THE “PARTY”

For much of my twenties (yes I’m in my thirties, and I’m dating myself), I was coasting. And not coasting in a good way, but coasting as in wasting my years away, living each year like the one before it without taking any action. I always had the travel bug and there was nothing I wanted more than to hop on a plane and get lost in the world, but my limited mindset got the best of me. 

I grew up being taught that hard work is the best work, and therefore always sought after work that involved me being present, in the office, and right up in the mix of the “action”. I had always been an amazing writer and ridiculously fast at typing, but I felt underwhelmed if I had to sit at a computer and type words. Could I even call that work? (The answer is yes and hell yes, but I just didn’t know it at the time). 

Sure I was growing wiser, smarter, and wealthier through the years, but I had not a single travel story to share. The most traveling I did was from home to work, to the bar, and back home again. I had been putting travels on the back-burner of life while justifying it by telling myself that I was saving money. Needless to say, I felt something was missing and was a bit disconnected from my true self. 

When I was 28 and coming close to the end of my twenties, the best thing happened to me: I got called into the office at my fancy corporate sales gig and was told that I was being let go, unceremoniously at that. They told me that it was “more of a decision than a discussion” and asked me to turn in my things immediately. They did give me a two-week severance pay- how generous of them. 

I say that this was the best thing to happen to me, but at that time it felt like my world was ending. I had never been fired, let alone laid off from a job. I had always prided myself in being a hard worker and a prime candidate, but at that moment my confidence was shattered to pieces. 

THE “AFTERPARTY”

After giving myself some time to sulk and get over it (read: a day), I took out my bulky laptop and started researching.  That’s when I stumbled upon Fiverr and Upwork. A completely different line of work that went against my lifelong mantra that hard work is the best work, I decided to try it anyways. And man oh man did it work wonders. 

In a few months of hard grind writing literally hundreds of articles in exchange for pennies, I leveled my way up to being a top seller. I updated my gigs to charge higher premiums. After about six months of writing on Fiverr and Upwork, I started traveling while working from my laptop. First locally to neighboring cities, then different states, and then the world. 

Since this transformational shift in my lifestyle, the pandemic happened and brought with it the opportunity for even more remote work possibilities. Since I love building wealth almost as much as I love to travel, I have since landed an amazing career in tech sales and managed a growing portfolio of rental properties that fuel my travel addiction and get me one step closer to true financial freedom. The rest is history, as they say.
